Congress MLA Pargat Singh accuses AAP, Mann of silence on 5 bills against Punjab’s interests | Chandigarh News
Jalandhar: Stating that during the upcoming Parliament session, preparations are underway to introduce five bills that go against Punjab’s interests, Congress MLA Pargat Singh on Sunday accused Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and chief minister Bhagwant Mann of remaining silent on key issues concerning Punjab.“They never opposed the National Education Policy in Parliament, nor raised their voice on the BBMB issue. Even on the Chandigarh issue, their stand remains ambiguous,” he said, while addressing a function to mark the death anniversary of the late communist leader Harkishan Singh Surjeet at Bundala. He held that the AAP effectively became BJP’s ‘B-Team’.He said the idea of involving private companies in the power sector was dangerous, and forming a commission in the education sector would also be a regressive step. He alleged that Mann had two mentors—former Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and Union home minister Amit Shah—and he sought to please both. “Mann does not want to upset either of them, and ultimately, Punjab is paying the price for his silence,” he added. He called upon all opposition parties to unite and fight a common battle to protect Punjab’s interests. “The prevailing mindset being imposed on the country is posing a serious threat to its future. The present struggle is ideological—where the big fish are devouring the small ones. The RSS and BJP together are weakening the nation, while decisions detrimental to state govts are being taken unilaterally,” he said.
