Panchkula: Police Commissioner Pankaj Nain Thursday held a meeting with RWA representatives and announced a phased verification drive for street vendors, hawkers, cart vendors and delivery personnel across Panchkula to strengthen security.Vendors will be issued unique identification numbers for their carts and vehicles, while delivery staff will undergo police verification.The meeting also decided to install CCTV cameras at uncovered locations with support from RWAs and increase police patrolling in vulnerable areas.Responding to residents’ demand, Nain said barricades at Majri Chowk will be removed on a trial basis and traffic movement monitored before a final decision is taken.He also announced a meeting of senior citizen representatives with SHOs and police post in-charges on Sunday to prepare area-specific action plans.
