Prof Vig’s tenure ends, Dr Goyal named acting V-C | Chandigarh News
Chandigarh: Panjab University dean of instruction Dr Meenakshi Goyal was on Tuesday asked to taken on the vice-chancellor’s responsibilities as well from July 29 following the completion of incumbent V-C Prof Renu Vig’s tenure.An order issued by the Vice-President’s office said Dr Goyal will hold additional charge until alternative arrangements are made. The interim arrangement comes as the process to appoint a regular V-C is underway.Vig, the first woman V-C of Panjab University, had taken over as acting V-C on Jan 16, 2023, and was appointed to a full three-year term in March 2023 after a selection process. On March 28 this year, she was given a four-month extension.Earlier this year, the Vice-President, who is Chancellor, approved a three-member search-cum-selection committee headed by Lt Gen (Retd) Madhuri Kanitkar, with Prof Shashikala Wanzari and Prof Vibha Tandon as members, to recommend a panel of candidates for the post. The selection process is now in the interview stage.
