Mayor holds ‘Janta darbar‘ | Chandigarh News
Chandigarh: Mayor Saurabh Joshi on Monday held a “Janta Darbar” at his office in the Municipal Corporation building in Sector 17, where he heard public grievances and directed officials concerned to address them. While some issues were resolved on the spot, others were forwarded to relevant departments for time-bound action.Representatives of RWAs, MWAs, village committees, traders’ bodies, social organisations, street vendors and residents participated in the hearing and submitted memorandums highlighting local concerns.Key issues raised included sanitation, door-to-door waste collection, repair of roads and streetlights, maintenance of parks, water supply, sewerage, storm-water drainage, parking management, encroachments and market infrastructure. Concerns relating to vendor rehabilitation, dhobi ghats and temporary sheds in Shastri Market were also discussed.The mayor directed officials to remain in touch with complainants and provide regular updates. He said the janta darbar has emerged as an effective platform connecting citizens with the civic body, enabling direct communication and quicker resolution of public issues. He assured residents that the MC would continue to work with transparency, accountability and sensitivity.
