Bathinda: Barnala police have suspended Dhanaula SHO inspector Lakhbir Singh for the second time in less than three months over separate allegations of misconduct.In the earlier case, the officer faced action over allegations of misbehaving with a woman during a property dispute in a village. According to sources, a land demarcation dispute had led to tension between two sides, following which the woman and her nephew were called to Dhanaula police station on December 4, 2025.Police had claimed at the time that the two had tried to tear the SHO’s uniform during the altercation. The complainant, however, alleged that the officer assaulted her nephew and used abusive language against her, after which an FIR was registered.The officer was later reinstated.Fresh action was taken this week after another dispute surfaced over the alignment of interlocking tiles in a street in Rajgarh village, also under the jurisdiction of Dhanaula police station.According to locals, inspector Lakhbir Singh reached the village and allegedly used abusive language against women during the dispute. Following the incident, a man allegedly consumed a poisonous substance, though he survived.Barnala SSP Sarfaraz Alam said the officer had earlier been shifted to police lines and later reposted. He said that following the latest incident, the SHO had again been placed under suspension.
