Man loses Rs 35L to immigration fraud | Chandigarh News
Panchkula: Haryana Police have busted an organised immigration fraud racket and arrested three persons for allegedly cheating a man of Rs 35 lakh on the pretext of sending his son abroad.According to police, a case was registered at the Raipur Rani police station following a complaint by Krishan Lal, a resident of Garhi Kotaha village in Panchkula. During investigation, it emerged that the accused promised to send the complainant’s son to the United States on a legal work visa.The arrested accused have been identified as Sandeep Kumar of Patiala, Pawan alias Pammi of Sector 3, Panchkula, and Satnam Singh of Pitampura, Delhi. Police said the accused gained the complainant’s trust through personal connections and assured him that the process would be legal and hassle-free.To evade banking trails, the accused allegedly insisted that the money be paid entirely in cash. The complainant was reportedly even persuaded to sell his land to arrange funds. Over a period of time, around Rs 35 lakh was paid to the accused in instalments.In Dec 2023, the accused claimed that the complainant’s son had secured a work visa and was sent abroad from the Delhi airport. However, it later came to light that the youth had been sent illegally through the “dunki route”. He was subsequently detained abroad and deported back to India.During investigation, the involvement of the third accused, Satnam Singh, came to light, following which he was arrested.Police said Rs 14 lakh has been recovered so far. Mobile phones seized from the accused are being examined. Efforts are on to identify and arrest other members involved in the racket.
